We Would Remember You

Music by Edward J. Hopkins, words by Alfred P. Gibbs

Lord Jesus Christ, we would remember You,
As, on the table, we the emblems view;
Your holy body shadowed in the bread,
Your precious blood is in the cup portrayed.

Lord, we adore You for Your matchless grace,
That You, for us, did take the servant's place;
From Godhead's glory to the shameful tree,
From wealth, so vast, to abject poverty!

O Lamb of God, we join to bless Your name,
That You, on Calvary, bore our sin and shame;
And, by Your death, You put our guilt away,
Triumphant rose, our night to turn to day.

We see You now, at God's right hand enthroned,
Vested with honor, and with glory crowned.
Blessed Redeemer, Savior, Lord, and King
Be all the glory, power and majesty!
